CHAPTER ONE
YOU ARE A NEW CREATION
You are a new creation in Christ old things have passed away behold
ALL things have become new 2 Cor 5.17
YOU ARE A NEW CREATION
Once you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, your life becomes brand new.
The Bible says that "old things have passed away and ALL things have become brand new." 2 Cor 5:17
This means that you will never be the same again. God recreates our spirit and gives us a new spirit. The spirit is the inner man. The outer man does not change much, apart from the presence of joy and peace seen on your face.
This change is not an emotional change, although it may cause emotions to run high, and this is right. However this change is not based on our emotions. It is based on the Word of God, the Bible, which is God's promise to us that He has changed us.
EVERYTHING IS BRAND NEW
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh".
"I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgements and do them". Ezekiel 36:26,27.
The life that you now have is inside the kingdom of God. This means it is ordered by the Lord God, our new Father.
The Bible says: "The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of peace, joy and righteousness in the Holy Spirit". Romans 14:17.
The nature that has been placed within your very being is one that includes these attributes. Joy is yours now, forever! Anything that takes away does not come from God.
YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN POWER OVER SIN
God no longer sees you as a sinner, but He sees you as Jesus. In fact Jesus calls you His brother/sister Hebrews 2.11. Your Father no longer sees your sin. You are no longer condemned. You are totally free. Even when you sin now, your Father does not condemn you. You are free.
Of course because you are free you want to stay this way. Sinning merely brings your mind into bondage and deceives you into thinking things that are wrong. So God tells us now to stop sinning, for our own good.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. Romans 6.12.
Romans 6.6 states that our old self was destroyed or crucified with Him when we accepted Jesus, so that we should no longer be slaves of sin! Sin comes from the old nature that we were completely enveloped in. the human nature is what the Bible calls the sin nature.
NOTHING HAS CHANGED?
On accepting Jesus we destroy the effect of the sin nature in our lives. This does not mean that we do not have a sin nature after having accepted Jesus into our lives, but that it is now rendered powerless by the other nature that we have received.
the devil comes to tempt us into thinking that we are still just the same. But we destroy his ploys by quoting the Word of God to him on the subject. Often the devil can even make you feel exactly the same way that you used to feel and tell you that you are indeed the same as before.
Nothing has changed, your feelings tell you. But Gods word tells you differently. We destroy the devils temptations in our lives by the word of God.
FEELINGS OFTEN LIE
The devils only real power is deception. He lies to us about what Gods word says. When you keep Gods word within your heart continuously, the devil has little chance. However, if he can bombard you with all sorts of feelings and situations that seem to tell you differently from Gods word, he can sometimes wrestle us away from what the Lord has said.
If he does this, he has the power to harm us. However if you remain steadfastly holding to Gods word on these matters, then success and overcoming power is assured!
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory that has overcome the word - our faith. 1John 5.4
Often you get the feeling that God does not love you. This is a lie. However, it is definitely a real feeling. But the truth is, that God states that He loves you.
OUR FATHER'S LOVE FOR US
It even states that He is your very own Father. That He cares for you as He did for Jesus, His first born son. We are His second born sons! The word tells us to. Hebrews 2.10
Which father does not love his sons? How much more then our heavenly Father whose very nature is love? 1 John 4.18
There was a father whose son asked for all his inheritance in advance. He left home and squandered all of it terribly. Drugs, prostitutes, drink etc. etc. however, the story tells that the Father could not go chasing after him because he had chosen this way of life out of his own free will. But his Father did remain watching out for him, never giving up hope that he would come back. When he did, the father went running out to meet him and fell on him, kissing him. God loved him so much! Luke 15.11
MAKE THE WORD FIRST IN YOUR LIFE!
This demonstrates how much He loves us. Waiting and watching for us to come to Him. Not only this, but He says it. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. John 3.16
God demonstrates His love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5.8
If God who did not spare his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8.32
Having thus got a promise from God that He loves us more than His own Son (in the physical), then how full should we be, of the newness of life which He has given us?
HIS WORD DEFEATS THE ENEMY
If you lose your first love it is because the evil one has wrestled you away from it. The way back? If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1.9
It is your belief in his word that keeps the fire of love burning brightly, the way it did from the beginning. The word of faith! This structure of the word inside you keeps bright what could easily become darkened. We believe Gods word, not our feelings or circumstances. We believe His promises. We are not moved by what we feel, or see, or touch. We are moved only by what God says. These are His sons and daughters that overcome the world.
Every temptation from the evil one is countered by It is written devil...with the appropriate verse added to let the devil know what God promises and what is rightfully yours. The devil is ignorant and needs to be told, Hallelujah, that God has given us so great a power!
