"He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness". Matthew 8:17

Asthenia weakness, disease, sickness, frailty, feebleness of health, want of strength of soul.
SICKNESSES:
Nosos disease, sickness, infirmity of body.
CROSS REFERENCE: "Surely He has borne our grief’s and carried our sorrows, yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed". Isaiah 53:4,5
GRIEFS: Choliy (cholic) = sickness
SORROWS: Makob = pain, both mental and physical
PSALM 103:3 "Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases".
THE TWO FOLD CURE
Deliverance/salvation/healing were all wrapped up in one with the Jews. Healing came to both body and soul. Both were eligible and yet not everyone received their covenant rights.

"There were many lepers in Israel at the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian". Luke 4:27
Jesus was talking and He was just showing that whilst healing was available in Israel even under the Old Covenant through the prophets/priest's ministry, yet no Israel covenant child of God received their healing only a Syrian who dared to trust the word of the Prophet Elisha and it worked.
NOTES
1. The healing came through the Spirit of god, through the channel of the prophet.
2. Today is the same. We still have to receive through the Spirit of God but now He is given to all to contact direct.
3. No one's heart was right and so they could not humble themselves enough to ask the prophet to help. They didn't believe enough to humble themselves or they didn't humble themselves enough to believe. but whatever their heart's weren't right and so they did not receive what God had ready for them according to their covenant with Him. Perhaps they thought that only "some" got healed and others didn't.
4. So even a full covenant with God is no use to anyone, of no profit unless their hearts were right because God is a Spirit not a man.
John 4:24 "God is Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth".
This means they must have the right heart. This is why the bible tells us to:-
"Be renewed in the spirit (attitude) of your mind". Ephesians 4:23
This renewing is vital even for the believers because if he hasn't got the faith he once had then he is not going to get the benefits that he is entitled to.
Hebrews 4:2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them, but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it".
All God's healing power doesn't profit us anything at all if we do not mix what god says with faith. Faith is making up your mind to listen. Faith is trusting and loving God with a tender heart. Faith is doing what is right, true, noble and just. Faith is a tender heart submissive to the truth. Faith is a courageous heart that nearly gives in but doesn't.
Faith is seen in Hebrews chapter 11 where many ordinary people rose above their circumstance by holding onto and choosing to believe in God and what He said regardless of the suffering involved. Their time as God's time. He never wanted them ill but had to reach them with His power through their spirits.
JESUS THE SAME TODAY AS YESTERDAY
Not only is Jesus the same today as yesterday but the inheritance is the same today as yesterday the bible says. In fact the bible says that we have a better covenant.
If yesterday's covenant with God providing healing for "all our diseases" what about today's covenant?
Jesus demonstrates the will of God in the New Testament towards planet earth. He refused no one healing whilst He was on earth. He never sent any disciple out to preach without commanding him equally to heal the sick.
(Luke 10:1-14) Always the disciples healed and delivered people. It was taken as having equal importance to their spiritual life.
In fact they never went about preaching be born again, but preaching the "kingdom of God was here". The acceptable day of the Lord was at hand. they were forgiven of all their iniquities and healed of all their diseases.
Of course the healing of the soul is far more important then healing the body but surely the healing of the body was important for one who preaches as he can't preach when he's dead?
Priests in the Old testament were supposed to heal as well as absolve people from sin when they had paid the sacrificial price. Today our sacrifice is paid for but our hearts must be right to receive what God has for us in His word.
ALTHOUGH A COVENANT RIGHT IT IS STILL AN ACT OF MERCY
Mark 10:48 "Jesus, son of David have mercy on me".
"Go your way, your faith has made you well". Mark 10:52
