A Word of Wisdom
1 Corinthians 12:8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit,
Most often this is mistaken for wisdom. Common wisdom is not the spiritual gift " a word of wisdom". Common wisdom or even God's wisdom is to be use din every day life for many thigns that are vital and necessary. However this wisdom is a special gifting and theefore cannot be relugated into the areena of the natural.
Prophets and men of old often operated in this gifting, showing things to come through it and often declaring operations; happenings and what to do about those happenings, even judgements sometimes had inherent within their message the declaration of what to do.

Examples
Jesus spoke about the demise of Jerusalem......Luke 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near."
Having told them what was going to happen to Jerusalem he then told them what to do about it.
He told them what to do and how long to wait.
"Then
let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who
are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the
country enter her.
22 "For these are the days of vengeance, that all things
which are written may be fulfilled.
23 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are
nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in
the land and wrath upon this people.
24 "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led
away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by
Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
The End of the Era
This also foretold the demise of this era of worship. Temple worship and the laws of the old testament were over. It mentioned what to do eprsonally when the armies of gentiles surrounded the city. pretty much like Jeremiah had five hundred years before hand.
In fact Titus 11 surrounded the city with a Roman army in 39 AD. He laid seige to it for four years ending in 39 AD actually .No one allowed in or out of the city. Now when the Christians began to see this happening they remembered the words of Jesus, history tells us, and ran out of the city and their lives were spared. But those remaining were all destroyed.
Anarchy reigned and most of them turned on each other and the temple was destroyed so that not one stone (weighing several tonnes in weight) was left standing on top of another. Just the way that Jesus had said. But the wisdom in this prophecy was the part where the Lord told them what to do when they saw the armies come around jerusalem. It took nearly one whole generation for this word of wisdom to fulfil itself but it did so eventually. The ones who ran out taking nothing because it was under seige in one day, were saved.
Wisdom is knowing what to do with the knowledge you have acquired in order to save something or someone.
There are constant examples of the word of wisdom in operation in the bible. Sometimes in dreams wisdom was given supernaturally. Sometimes in visions, people were prepared by God for coming circumstances that would change their history. God imparting life saving wisdom for them to save themselves.
A Word of Wisdom is Always in the Future.
By definition wisdom is futuristic. It tells you how to avoid something ...a disaster or peril of some kind. It gives you a course of action.
How to operate or respond in leiu of some untoward circumstance that might be coming which we cannot see. god is good in this gifting in that He prepares us for what is to come. Now Jesus said about the Holy Spirit.....
John 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."
Things to come........the future. Now the word from God that brings us supernatural wisdom does exactly this. It is preparation. The Holy Spirit is the one who does this and so this is one of His giftings.
Of course one type of ministry uses this gift more than others, namely the Prophets ministry. However it is not just prophets that will operate this but anyone filled with the Holy Spirit. For the gifts are not ours but His. And if He is filling you then they come out of you.
