Lesson Three

1 Corinthians 12:8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,
A Word of Knowledge
The gift or operation of the word of knowledge was common with prophets from both testaments. In the Old Testament Jeremiah and Isaiah constantly brought a word of knowledge inside the preaching of their time.
It was a fact that came to pass as they said it would but had no way of knowing for sure. Only God could have told them.
Clairvoyancy A Pervesion
Now the devil's equivalent is fortune telling. Clairvoyancy and the like. These are illegitimate ways of operating spiritual powers. All who do these will be judged for it. It is lawless and illegitimate though it longs to legitimise itself into society as does all the perverted ways of the devil. But just because there is the illegitimate way does not make that which is legitimate wrong. No even more it heightens the need for legitimate ways of operating the powers that God gave for us in ours and His kingdom, now with us.
Jesus Operated in it Constantly
Jesus constantly operated in this word of knowledge. It is a futuristic fact of knowledge that could not have been obtained by natural means. It does not bring with it the wisdom on how to act. For instance when God says that someone is going to die. It is a fact. Nothing can change it. It will come to pass.
Nothing can change it. Sometimes with knowledge comes the wisdom on how to act making the word of wisdom operate. But raw word of knowledge is just supernatural knowledge in operation.
A word of knowledge can be used as knowledge from the past too, where there was no way of acquirering this knowledge naturally.
Jeremiah Operated in it Constantly
Jeremiah predicted the fall of Israel and the captivity of Israel the Diaspora or dispersion for 70 years for the children of Israel. The Lord said that He would allow their captivity for 70 years and then He would judge the nation that captured them. He told Jeremiah to say that. Jeremiah did and Daniel read it when the 70 years were up and then he pray to God. God answered and Jerusalem was rebuilt.
Not a Word of Wisdom
Nothing could change this happening. It was a fact that would happen. Now initially the word of wisdom described how that God did not want this to happen and it would not happen if they obeyed Him and surrendered themselves to the Babylonians. However their pride insisted that they were not going to become captives. Even their prophets backed this up. But it was Jeremiah's prophecy that came to pass. They could have stopped it. It was condition and therefore to begin with it was a word of wisdom. But by the end of God preaching to them it because a fact that nothing would change and it then had to come to pass it was a word of knowledge.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.
AN Example
A lady in Africa came to me as soon as I reached Swaziland on the mission that the Lord sent me on. SHe asked me for help. She said that she had a husband that was not a believer, though he had been at one time, who she felt she should divorce. This lady ran an international ministry, based in this country. Her husband, she said, obstructed her ministry.
I sort the Lord and then asked if she could bring her husband around. She did. Though they were living apart she could still speak to him. Now when he came he was greatly perturbed at his wife and told me that she need help. He had been a headmaster at the local private school, one of the best in the country. He did not seem the kind of person she had described and so I went back to God.
The Lord then spoke to my heart. "She is very wrong the lord said. She must not get divorced from this husband." So then I went and told her this to which she was greatly distressed. She really did not want to ehar this. So she indicated that she planned to carry out her course of action regardless. Then the Lord spoke to me again.
"Her husband will be dead within the next 90 days and this is the sign that she must not divorce him. And I will hold her personally accountable for his death." The Lord told me.
Now her husband was a good man and not an old one either...they were in their forties. I told her this but her heart had grown hardened towards the things of God now and she was bitter towards me. She went out and divorced this man and he died in acar accident 89 days after Ispoke those words. But it turned out she had someone else all the time. The Lord knew and the Lord spoke and no one changed it. It was done.
