A Word of Explanation
My ministry team here in Leeds, are just a part of a larger group, the Body of Christ. Until this time all were law abiding citizens, mostly with good jobs and no criminal offences whatsoever. They were not the people you would ever expect to preach. The first person that the Lord Jesus picked out to go preaching was Alison. She had never preached in her life. Never really done anything for church and we did not even expect her to remain in church, yet Jesus picked her clearly and spoke it out as prophecy. She obeyed and with outstanding results, eventually.
The others followed likewise. As a church we were a teaching body and not a street preaching body. Never even did much evangelism. We only obeyed what the Lord told us to do and are still obeying it at this very moment. We followed the word of the Lord. He did the rest. Praise God!
The Lord has given me permission to do this page now. He made me refuse TV coverage, media coverage, nearly 100 per cent. He didn't need men's ways to achieve His goals. He was sufficient. Please note that a lot of these newspaper accounts are very critical, because of their total ignorance of what preachers should be. A look at the bible will show all, but of course they don't look at the bible and so their interpretation and their conclusions are almost always 100 per cent wrong. Nevertheless we include their accounts to show how God can act and move when He wants to.
Summary: - The judge ordered both Alan and Alison to pay £30 fines each and court costs of £100 each. (A series of strangers on the streets or from other towns sent money unsolicited - we never asked for money nor make known any needs,- and the whole fine and costs were covered by the Lord in this manner) They were convicted on Obstructing the highways in Bradford with an estimated (by the police) 30 people present. Later a team of eight were charged with the same, in the very same place but the magistrates found them not guilty after a two-day trial.

Street Preachers claimed persecution yesterday after a father and daughter were found guilty of wilfully obstructing police whilst delivering a fire-and-brimstone message to shoppers. They said that they ultimately answered to a higher authority. (On appeal these charges were later dropped, and the convictions overturned though the press never report these.)
Magistrates in York were told that the crowd's reaction to their aggressive message became hostile, a gang of youths had sprayed them with aerosol, and there was fear that the situation could spiral (It never did in two years of preaching) out of control. Alan Bate, 51, and his daughter, Alison Redmond-Bate, 24 had refused police requests to move on.
Yesterday, after they were given a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 costs, their solicitor, Malcolm Nowell, said they would consider an appeal. "These issues are so important they need to be heard in a higher court", he said...
Malcolm Nowell had asked one police officer in court if he were prejudiced. This officer said that he wasn't. Then why did you call what Mr. Bate said, "barrage of religious hype and twaddle?" The police officer failed to reply in court.
Mr. Bate 'of Leeds Faith Ministries group said, that the Lord had told them to preach a specific message of repentance to the nation. That the Lord Jesus was not pleased with the nation of Britain at this stage.

Often we went to prison because the lack of respect that the officials gave us in our preaching of the gospel. Any other group, even prostitutes would never be banned from the city, yet we were banned for none imprisonable offences. Then, upon our refusal, as the authorities were just using this privilege to get rid of us. Often they would keep the trials extending because they knew they could not win them, but the banning was enforced. If we broke this ban then they sent us to prison. We spent weeks in prison, but no one complained.

The photographers always catch our people in the "aggressive" stance and yet not one of them is an aggressive person. Photographs and editorials can all be used to tell whatever story the editor wants them to tell and so prejudice the truth.

Above Article Tells the Story of Standing
Wendy Duffield was one of the preachers but could not stand the pace and so cracked up in prison and compromised a released. Many of the believers found that they could not stand for Jesus like they thought they could and so found reasons why they should fall out. (Justifiably of course) Western Christianity leaves a lot to be desired.

Above Article Changed the Course of Imprisonment's.
Notable Changes seen in the above article were that the senior judge had said in the trial that the preachers were not at fault by preaching anywhere in UK. The Fountain at York was a good place as was anywhere else the judge has said. That what they were preaching was the well versed message of gospel repentance know throughout the ages as Christian preaching material and tolerance from the authorities should be shown towards these preachers. (After this the police only very rarely arrested us again). He said that the tolerance should start right in that court and the preachers were not asked to pay costs of the appeal court as a direct result from the judge.

This was a major victory although the convictions were not overthrown entirely.

It was common place for the police to get rid of the "thorny problem" by banning us from the various cities. The police imposed this "bail" prior to the trial. It often lasted months at a time and so effectively stopped us from preaching if it were allowed by us to do so. However, in most, but not all, of these cases the Lord told us to go back and break the ban. Many cannot understand how God can do this but He is a living God and we make neither justification nor apology for our God being able to talk to us.

The Yorkshire Evening Post was our worst critic where the Religious Editor 1997 told me personally that he did not believe the bible and that it was "outdated." Constantly this Leeds based paper was aggressively against us fulfilling the saying of Jesus that a prophet has no honour in his own country. However I am mistaken for coming from here.
Many depreciating articles I have included here because it shows the contempt that the world has, especially in UK, for preachers of the gospel. In days gone by this preaching would have been normal. Nowadays, because of Sigmund Freud, and church liberalism, it is considered aggressive!

But I was around when my grandfather preached and Smith Wigglesworth and the like. They were not ashamed and they were not afraid to call sin, sin! They would preach exactly what the Lord told them fearlessly, but this has been lost. But we are winning back the respect for the church inch by little inch and it is coming. Rebuilding the temple of David. By war.

Street Preachers in the Jaws of Hell
Four brave preachers ventured into the jaws of hell to preach in York one night the court was told. Mr. Alan Mitcheson was prosecuting and told how that onlookers were verbally attacking the preachers and the police feared a breech of the peace was going to occur (though one never did in two years of constant preaching)

Magistrate's found them guilty and imposed a one-year's conditional discharge on each and ordered them to pay costs of £70 to the prosecutor.

It is a small article that tells the full story. Being cleared is told through local newspapers and not the national ones that covered the aspects of being arrested. Like the Times and Daily Telegraph. Being cleared doesn't sell stories to the public and so it does not allow newspapers to covered it and so print the full story. The word aggressive is constantly used, instead of "strong". In ages past it wouldn't even be strong, just normal preaching but the church has lost this salting effect. So now it has become unusual and so is referred to as "aggressive"
In 90 per cent of all cases we won the cases in court. Though initially it seems like we lost and that we were out of order, we were not. The prejudice was enormous, helped on by churches that stood against us, our biggest problem. However now often the police have great respect for us because we have proved our case and not just in the courts either. But the press only like reporting bad news, not when we won or when a retrial or appeal threw out mostly all the cases against us. The main one left now it going to the British National court before the House of Lords and the European court, in London. In this court we hope to fight the right tot preach in UK. God is with us.

"The Anointing of the Lamb", God said
Daubed with paint on her coat Alison is led away to prison for preaching by PC Bolton. This happened in the beginning. The paint still remains a way of aggressive bystanders attacking the preachers but in every single case we were arrested we were led away meekly. No aggressiveness was ever seen from us once arrested. No strong behaviour whatsoever. The anointing of the Lamb. Never did the police ever have cause to have any trouble from any of us once arrested. We would not justify ourselves, nor insist on our rights. Just believe for God's help. In court the police always testified to this that there was never any trouble with us once arrested. Jesus lives in us.

Always Arrest Preachers

Above Article "Always Arrest the Preachers
Shortly after this they never arrested us again for more than a year. We did not change and will not change what the Father asks us to do. We must warn this nation about it's stand before God. It's lack of values and it's calling right wrong. It's portrayal to young people that perversion is alright and there is nothing wrong with it and the like. God says that He will have to judge such a people who adopt these ways. Destruction must follow those who disregard those things that are right to do.

The Latest Arrest in Harrogate
Mrs. Jenny Bate was picked out of the preachers and arrested in November 1998 in Harrogate. It was obviously a put up job with all the other preachers being allowed to continue. The lawyer, Malcolm Nowell, showed from the bible that homosexuality was a sin and the magistrates let Jenny's bail banning drop. (She was preaching there despite the bail banning anyway.)
This happened again in March 1999. Now the police have videod a street interview between them and Mrs Bate to cover themselves in an event of something or other.? In this they keep everyone else staged, away from the scene so that they can pose their questions and not let the situation be seen for what it normally is. Perhaps for evidence? Somewhat biased??

These are some cuttings from various newspaper articles. We have many more available on request.
Even in Little Cleckheaton the Fire Rages
The above clipping depicts the total lack of gravity that the general public gives the Word of the Lord. We went preaching and stayed here for two years. Yet 15 minutes of Santa Claus collecting out of a four hour collection, caused an outcry. The Santa Claus in this case was a women (Sant-her Claus?) Our team were respectful and dignified though the man in question here showered them with utter disgraceful verbal abuse face on. Using four letter words and blaspheming the name of the Lord, may the Lord not hold it against him.
No real criminal convictions for preaching the truth for one hundred years. Some change. Either the law has changed or the preachers have changed . Which? I think gospel preachers stay pretty constant when all they preach is the word of God don't you. When the light switches on then darkness shows up for what it is. Unless you see what you are into how can you save yourself? "To open the eyes of the blind.....
What is different about the message? Nothing. No one at any of the forty court cases could ever say that we preached anything abusive in content. But what was abusive to them was stating by both words, demeanour and actions that God was God of man. He was the king of the world. The Creator. This offended deeply. But is it the truth....?
If God is God then He is going to judge the world. This means He is laying down the rules for right living. How can you judge someone for something they don't know that they are doing? But God will judge the whole world and does, through Jesus, even now.

Jenny and Gillian Win the Right to Have their Convictions Squashed
Now both these ladies have no convictions whatsoever and yet Gillian when she made an official complaint was told, in writing, that she was a bad witness and her complaints could not be upheld because she had been arrested so many times, and yet without any judicial conviction? (Guilty until even after proved innocent?) Mrs Bate, Jenny, of course has no convictions either and yet when the police seized the pastor's shotgun one of the two main reasons was that Mrs Bate had signed the license application and she was a bad citizen i.e. having so many convictions. Ho hum so much for freedom of expression and also "Innocent until proven guilty!"
